چکیده:

Bubble column reactors can be designed for bioleaching process. In this study, a laboratory scale bubble column for bio recovery of metals in Tehran refinery spent catalysts has been simulated via computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and the results for gas hold up, liquid phase velocity distribution, and also bioleaching process is obtained. Four main metals in spent catalysts including Al, Fe, Ni and Mo are considered in this simulation and the esults show the recovery of 36.48% Ni, 86.48% Mo, 36.9% Al and 58.52% Fe. As the experiments and simulation outcome are in good agreement, CFD techniques can be useful for optimization and scale-up of bioreactors, reducing the number of time consuming experimentsand operations.
