Drug delivery to the eye is a major challenge of nowadays’ eye disease treatment. This issue would be more crucial in the case of blindness for some ocular diseases like age related macular degeneration (AMD) or choroidal neovasculization. Many barriers are found to hinder effective drug delivery to the eye and one main barrier is elimination of drug from back of the eye in which it decreases effective drug entrance to the eye. To eliminate the aforementioned problem, magnetic alginate nanoparticles were prepared with a model drug. After preparation and characterization of particles, the transscleral permeability of drug loaded magnetic alginate nanopaeticles has been investigated in the presence and absence of magnetic field. The results showed 24% increase in diffusion of drug in the presence of magnetic field compared to the absence of magnetic field. In addition, the amount of trapped particles showed 3 times increase of particles’ entrance to the tissue in the presence of magnetic field.
