To study effect of foliar application of methanol on seed yield, some traits and leaf area of chick pea (Cicer arietinum L.) cultivar and lines under dry land conditions in Ardabil region, an experiment was conducted as factorial base on randomized complete blockes design with three replications in crop year 1391-92 at Ardabil Agriculture Research and Natural Resources Station. In This experiment were factor A including concentrations of foliar application of methanol in five levels (nonfoliar application, 0 or foliar application of water, 10, 20, and 30 volume percent of methanol) and factor B including chick pea cultivar and lines in three levels (Jam cultivar, Flip93-93 and Flip98-108C lines). Foliar application of methanol was conducted in two growth stages of plant (beginning flowering and beginning poding) on aerial bodystraits of chick pea plants in all treatments. Results of analysis of variance showed that foliar application of methanol had significant effects on higher traits evaluate case. Also, means comparison traits evaluate case showed that foliar application with concentration of 30 volume percent of methanol affected on seed yield, some traits and leaf area more than other treatments. Foliar application of 30 volume percent of methanol in Flip93-93 line (1518 kg/ha) had the highest seed yield per hectare whose with foliar application of 20 volume percent of methanol in Flip93-93 line (1175 kg/ha) from viewpoint of statistics hadnot significant dissension. Foliar application of 30 volume percent of methanol had the highest leaf area and foliar application of water had the lowest leaf area.
