چکیده:

When designing or scaling-up bubble column reactors, detailed knowledge about gas holdup should be known since this hydrodynamic parameter notably affects the gas–liquid mixing as well as heat and mass transfer. Effect of liquid viscosity on local gas hold up in a lab scale bubble column was investigated in this work. The experimental data were collected by an electroresistivity probe. The water-air system was selected as the standard system. Besides, in order to study the effect of viscosity on local gas hold up, liquids of various concentrations of carboxy methyl celloluse were used in experiments. The obtained local gas hold up profiles displayed an early slight increase, then decreased by increasing the liquid viscosity. Similarly, the radial profile of gas hold up exhibit the same behavior while the axial distribution does not have a significant change
