چکیده:

In this research a laboratory scale undivided electrolysis cell system with steel (SS-304) anode and cathode was used to electrochemical oxidation of simulated wastewater containing Food Black 1 (FB1) azo dye. The influence of supporting electrolyte, applied voltage and pH werestudied. The UV–vis spectra of samples during the electrochemical oxidation showed the rapid decolorization of the dye solution. During the electrochemical degradation process, dye concentration and current were measured for energy consumption (EC) and current efficiency (CE) evaluations. The optimum supporting electrolyte, applied voltage and initial pH of solution were NaCl (2 g/L), 10 volt and pH of 4; in these condition complete decolorization of 40 (mg/L) of the dye solutions was achieved after 20 min. There were good fit of the data to pseudo-first order kinetics for dye removal at all the experiments
