A simple method is described for the fabrication of nanostructure silver fibers (NSSFs) by using of natural cellulose as template. A silver layer was deposited by reduction of Ag complexes on the cellulose surface. Heating the resulting product creates pure NSSFs that X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) demonstrates a partial oxidation and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) shows fcc silver phase.Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirms that 50- nm nanoparticles are the building blocks of NSSF.The NSSFs were incorporated in a graphite composite electrode. This modifying electrode showed a good electrocatalysis behavior for oxygen reduction reaction. Effective surface area of resulting Fibers is 25 m2/g which this high surface area verifies their fine electrocatalysis performance.
