چکیده:

In this study pure zero valent iron nanoparticles (ZVIN) are fabricated through application of a 50A/cm2 current to iron rod electrodes, in distilled water (size: 66nm). These arecompared and contrasted to rather impure Fe nanoparticles produced through reduction of FeSO4 by NaBH4 (size: 45nm). The former bare ZVIN appear twice more effective in nitrate removal from ground water than the latter iron oxide coated Fe nanoparticles (63%vs. 28%, respectively). These results are obtained using x-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) data.
