A simple alternative method for voItage collapse proximity assessment is presented. It is based on active reactive directions which are exploited to decompose the entire system to a set of transmission paths. These could be further reduced to exact two – bus equivalents Finally the voltage collapse proximity index is de .fined exploiting The knowledge about maximal power transfer condition.for the two bus system Although the method is approximate for meshed networks, it matches the Jacobian based results well and, fiti.tliei.iiiot.e, it gives information on weak buses. Moreover the voltage collapse proximity index physically interprets the phenomenon.
