This paper presents the results of practical experience gained through 7 years switching operation of 160 MVAR-400 KV in Yazd substation in southeast of Iran . The overvoltage occur by switching of small inductive current is evaluated which indicates that how the improper selection of overvoltage control device affects on overal reliability of substation operation
