چکیده:

In this study some experiments were performed to investigate the effect of cultivating trees at different distances from the main channel/flood plain boundary.Experiments were conducted in a physical model of compound open channel with two flood plains. For simulating trees, some cylindrical wood rods were used.Three dimensional flow velocities ware measured using Acoustic Doppler Velocity meter. It was found that cultivating trees at 10% of width of flood plains from the edge of flood plain is the appropriate distance for cultivating the trees as minimum tangential velocity produced at this point.
