The use of combined heat and power generating systems in the household sector, has a growing trend in the developed world over. This technology can increase the efficiency and reduce environmental emissions. One of the key drivers of micro cogeneration systems with small dimensions and low emissions levels are micro turbines which can be appropriately used in electrical and domestic hot water needs supplying in small buildings. In this paper the thermodynamic performance of combined heat and power systems with thermal storage tank In order to supply the electrical needs of the building, and domestic hot water in four climate zones of Iran has been studied. The values of efficiency, rating power required, electricity production and emission reduction of carbon dioxide have been studied in different climate zones. Also, Payback period and the equivalent annual cost is examined. Results of surveys conducted, shows the least and the most economical use and Minimal energy losses is for cold region.
